The Customer

The Laurels Service Station has been serving local motorists for over 50 years, offering Shell fuel and a SPAR forecourt shop as well as a full MOT and repair centre.
As with many other forecourt retailers, The Laurels had experienced an increase in both drive-offs and No Means of Payment incidents, significantly impacting on the profitability of the business. As a busy forecourt, it was difficult for staff to complete the lengthy process of pursuing lost fuel costs themselves.

The Solution

The Laurels tasked VARS Technology with protecting their business from drive-offs and other forecourt disruption. After a site visit by the VARS team, the full ANPR system was recommended and installed,.
Blacklisted vehicles automatically trigger visual and audio warnings to staff when they enter the forecourt, allowing
Drive-Offs to be prevented before they can take place. Drive-off or No Means of Payment incidents are logged quickly and easily using the VARS tablet reporting system, with money owed pursued on behalf of the customer.
Since the installation, the ANPR system has been joined by VARS facial recognition to protect against retail theft
